Anne Healey has practiced at the Bar for 21 years. She was a solicitor from 1987 to 1994, working for Aboriginal and community legal services, in law reform, and as a public prosecutor. She has specialised in criminal law, but has expertise in personal injury, discrimination, civil and human rights law and family provision.
She was elected to Bar Council from 2006 to 2014, serving as Honorary Secretary from 2011 to 2012. She has worked on numerous committees, including the Finance Audit & Investment, Human Rights and Criminal Law Committees. She has mentored many women lawyers and law students as a tutor, employer, and also as a judge and coach of women’s university mooting and trial advocacy competitions.
Anne has been a member of Women Lawyers since 1986, and was on the Executive in 1987. She has been a consistent supporter of and role model for women lawyers in both the city and in regional New South Wales. Anne was awarded ‘Women Lawyer of the Year’ in the ‘2015 NSW Women Lawyers Achievement Awards’.
