Professor Monica Attard OAM will engage in a Q&A with the audience. Monica will discuss her career as a journalist, including her achievements in broadcasting and the media, future changes and challenges in journalism as well as her role as a non-executive director for Media Diversity Australia.
The Q&A will be conducted by Rafqa Touma, a reporter for Guardian Australia.
About the speaker
Professor Monica Attard OAM is one of Australia’s most respected news and current affairs journalists.
Monica is a Professor of Journalism Practice and co director of the UTS Centre for Media Transition, a cross disciplinary centre researching the impact of digital change on journalism and media more broadly. She is also a non-executive director at Media Diversity Australia.
Prior to this, Monica was head of Journalism at UTS, Sydney. Her career in journalism spans 45 years across both broadcast and digital media.
She was awarded the Order of Australia for services to journalism, and is the winner of 5 Walkley Awards for excellence in journalism, including gold.
